Shavuot is the holiday of receiving the Torah. What better way to celebrate than to help give the gift of Torah to an egalitarian community in Tel Aviv?
Havurat Tel Aviv meets every Friday night and twice a month for Shabbat morning; it is the closest thing to Hadar's Shabbat morning davening that you can find in Tel Aviv. Like Hadar in its early years, they have been borrowing sifrei Torah, but the ones they have used are in need of repair and checking. At the same time, another egalitarian synagogue in Jerusalem is closing its doors and needs to sell all its sifrei Torah this month. So the Havurah now has a chance to purchase a very beautiful and high quality scroll, but only a few days to raise the money needed. Because the Havurah is egalitarian, it receives no funding or support from the Israeli government. Please consider donating in support of the Havurah (and, even better, pass on this opportunity to anyone you know who might be interested as well).
