At Schechter, we meet on the second floor, which is accessible by an elevator.

Unfortunately Booker T. Washington Middle School is not fully accessible. There is a staircase to the main entrance and further steps to the level with the restrooms. Please contact us if you have any questions about the spaces.

Due to expected demand, we require that people sign up for services in advance. Please register everyone attending, including all children. We will not be able to admit those who do not sign up in advance. Please only sign up if you plan on coming, and let us know if you need to cancel. We cannot offer refunds for donations.

Health & Safety Protocols

Safety is our top priority at services. The following plan is guided by the principles we shared in June 2020. We continue to endeavor to be thoughtful about each aspect and phase of this plan, consistent with our conservative approach to risk. Please remember that our policies may be subject to change.

  • Vaccination is required for all attendees ages 6 months and up, including boosters for those 12 and up, but we will not be asking for you to submit proof of vaccination. However, our venues do require presenting proof of vaccination.
  • Masking is optional.
  • There will be some socially distanced seating available.
  • We require that you do not attend services if you are sick.

Please send any questions about these policies to covid@kehilathadar.org

Donations to Kehilat Hadar

Kehilat Hadar relies on your donations to maintain its financial stability. All of the money you donate is used to fund our operating costs and programming. Your donation has a direct impact on our ability to continue providing year-round high quality davening and programming. We raise the bulk of our operating budget in our fall campaign. (Please note that Shaare Zedek maintains its own membership drive and High Holiday ticketing process.)

Our annual fundraising goal is to raise $90,000 during our 5783 fundraising drive.

We ask that community members who regularly attend KH services and programs donate $390 per person (or $180 for full-time students). Donating at this level is one way to qualify for voting membership. You may indicate your interest in membership when registering.

For families with children, we are also requesting a donation of $70.

We request a minimum donation of $11 per month ($130 for the year). Donations of any size are greatly appreciated, and all donations are fully tax deductible.

We do not turn anyone away for lack of funds. Please email Emily Scharfman at financialaid@kehilathadar.org if cost is a barrier to your participation.

If you already made a donation to the 5783 campaign, you will receive a coupon code by email to bypass the payment requirement for High Holiday services registration. If you would like to make your donation on a monthly recurring basis, please do so via the campaign page, after which you’ll receive your coupon code to register for High Holiday services, since the High Holiday registration form cannot accommodate recurring contributions. Please email any questions to donations@kehilathadar.org.

Additionally, we will be printing a Yizkor Memorial Book and anyone can add their loved ones' names to it with a donation of $18 per name. Sign up here.

Babysitting & Kids Programming

We plan to offer babysitting for young children during both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services. Please see the times in the sidebar. If you plan to use babysitting but did not include your child on your High Holiday registration, please email contact@kehilathadar.org promptly.

We will hold Family Services at 10:30 AM on both days of Rosh Hashanah. Family Services are geared toward children ages 0–5, with an accompanying adult. Additionally, we will hold Junior Minyan for families of children ages 5+.

We will also hold Family Services on Yom Kippur, geared toward children ages 0–5, with an accompanying adult, as well as Junior Minyan services, for children ages 5+. Timing information will be available shortly.

Volunteering

Kehilat Hadar and Shaare Zedek depend on volunteers to run all aspects of its programs. You'll have opportunities to sign up to volunteer for High Holidays and for year-round services during the registration process, and we encourage you to do so!
