Faces of Israel-Film Screening

Date:

March 25, 2009 - 8:00pm

Kehilat Hadar and Ansche Chesed are partnering to bring you the debut of a brand new film titled Faces of Israel on Wednesday evening, March 25th at 8:00 p.m.  The screening will take place at Ansche Chesed (100 Street at West End) and will be followed by a Q&A with the director.

Tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased at the door.

Faces of Israel poses a series of thought-provoking questions about hot topics in Israel: the meaning of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state, the current and future role of the Israeli Chief Rabbinate, the place of Conservative and Reform Judaism in Israel, and the status of civil and same-sex unions in the Jewish homeland.  It answers these questions through interviews with Israelis ranging from openly gay secular university students to leaders in the Conservative movement to Ultra-Orthodox Jews, including exclusive footage with Israel's Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi. Faces of Israel is an exciting, educational and balanced documentary intended for a wide audience, from synagogue-goers to university and high school students to unaffiliated members of the Jewish community.

Faces of Israel has been endorsed by a wide spectrum of Jewish leaders such as Rabbi Gordon Tucker (Conservative movement), Rabbi Judith Hauptman (JTS), Rabbi Moshe Edelman (USCJ), David Lissy (Masorti Foundation), Rabbi Basil Herring (RCA), Rabbi David Ellenson (HUC), Rabbi Avi Weiss (HIR / YCT) and Blu Greenberg (JOFA) and has been called "powerful. mature. honest. sophisticated," and "a must see" by these leaders.  Come check out the film on March 25th and learn more by visiting www.facesthemovie.com.
