Shavuot Retreat 2022

Highlights | New for 2022 | Housing & Cost | Health & SafetyTransportation | Contact & FAQ

Friday evening, June 3 to Monday night, June 6
Camp Kinder Ring, Hopewell Junction, NY

Registration is now closed. We hope you'll join us next year!

Retreat Highlights:

At this retreat we come together to create a joyful, immersive Shavuot experience. While at the retreat you’ll have the opportunity to participate in our signature spirited, songful, lay-led, egalitarian davening and study a vast array of topics at our overnight Tikkun and during the daytime. We are excited to again feature many of the teachers from Hadar Institute to bring you a highly engaging learning program!

You’ll also have plenty of time to partake in delicious, kosher meals, enjoy the extensive grounds (including a pool and sports fields), make new friends, and reconnect with old ones. Our Shavuot Retreat community includes singles, couples, and kids and adults of all ages. We offer a variety of housing options, and all are clean, comfortable, and rustic.

See our 2019 retreat schedule and learning schedule to get an idea of what the retreat has looked like in the past.

The Shavuot retreat is volunteer-run. We work hard to look after every detail, but if you have any specific questions, please be in touch! You can reach us at shavuot@kehilathadar.org. We look forward to enjoying the holiday together!

New for 2022: Registration Process Changes

Our community has grown over the past three years, and housing at camp is therefore going to be even more limited than before, especially for families with children. As a result, we’ve changed the registration process for this year. Payment will not be collected at the time of registration. Instead, registrants will rank their choices for housing as part of the registration form. We will match registrants into housing and then send out confirmation emails and invoices. Payment is required by credit card within 48 hours of receiving the invoice, otherwise the housing offer will be released. Registration is not confirmed until payment is received. Please review our refund policy.

Phase 1: Members Only
Kehilat Hadar voting members and Shaare Zedek members will have access to a dedicated early-access registration link (and the member discount). At the end of this period, all registrants will receive an email containing their housing offer and an invoice.

Phase 2: Open Registration
Registration will be open to the public. Within about 1 week of registering, registrants will receive an email containing their housing offer and an invoice. In the event of limited capacity for any housing type, first priority will go to KH and SZ community members.

Housing & Cost

The costs below include kosher meals, housing, and spectacular davening and learning for 3 nights and 3 days. Some housing categories also include babysitting during naps and bedtime. Pricing depends on the housing category selected.

We offer babysitting in a common location during morning services for all children. We also offer babysitting during naps and bedtime, for those who register for a housing category that includes babysitting. Families in those housing categories will be placed near each other to create a quiet zone at night and to simplify babysitting.

All prices below are listed per person. For example, a couple registering for Private bedroom, private bathroom (H3) housing would pay 2 x $650 which equals $1300.

Health & Safety

All participants will be required to be up to date on their COVID vaccinations, including booster doses as applicable. Mask and testing requirements, if any, will be determined as we get closer to the holiday. Meals and services will be held indoors.

On the registration form we require registrants to upload proof of vaccination for all participants ages 5 and up.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will determine whether any adjustments are needed as we get closer to the holiday.

Transportation

  • Camp Kinder Ring is 1.5 hours from Manhattan by car.
  • Transportation by bus from NYC (110th Street between Broadway & Riverside) will be available each way. Registration for the bus is separate from the retreat registration process and will be announced to participants closer to the holiday. Pricing depends on interest but is likely to be around $30 each way.
  • The nearest Metro North train station is New Hamburg, on the Hudson Line, which is about 20 minutes from camp by car. Kinder Ring recommends A-1 Taxi in New Hamburg (845) 297-8294. Call ahead to reserve a taxi and inquire about rates.
