Food for Thought Kiddush-Time Shiur

Date:

November 21, 2015 - 12:00pm

Location:

Solomon Schechter School of Manhattan, at 805 Columbus Ave at 100th

Join us for a shiur in the side room during the end of kiddush. In honor of the clock change and our earlier winter start time, Rabbi Ashira Konigsburg will teach on the halachic zmanei tefilah (prayer times). This brief shiur will overlap the end of kiddush, so there’ll be plenty of time to nosh, chat, learn, and make it to lunch on time.

The Essentials of Prayer Leadership: in text and in practice

Date:

May 17, 2012 - 7:30pm

Facilitators: Rabbi Ashira Konigsburg & Aaron Kasman

What are some of the key elements to successfully leading a community in prayer?  How do pick the right melodies, review the appropriate rules, and prepare yourself to lead others in song, even if you are not confident in your skills?

The first part of this session will explore classical texts that describe both how a shaliach tzibbur should lead the community, and how we prepare ourselves for connecting with God through communal prayer.
