Our Shavuot retreat community includes attendees from all backgrounds, ages, and locations. Camp Kinder Ring offers a variety of rustic, clean, and comfortable housing options.

Food

Glass bottles and beverages
In accordance with Camp Kinder Ring's alcohol policy, no glass bottles should be taken outside at any time and no beverages should be left unattended. Any beverages or bottles found unattended will be disposed of immediately.

Meal schedule
There will be one dinner each night of the retreat. We will also offer a light early dinner for children (choices may include fish sticks, chicken nuggets and plain pasta, as well as vegetarian options).

All meals will have vegetarian and vegan options and we will work with the camp to accommodate dietary needs--which must be indicated during registration-=as much as possible.

Camp Kinder Ring is entirely nut-free.

Housing & Costs

The costs below include delicious kosher meals, spectacular davening, meaningful learning, and housing from Tuesday evening to Thursday evening, June 11-13.

We offer babysitting for all children in a central location during morning services. We also offer babysitting during naps and bedtime in certain housing areas. Families who register for a housing option that includes babysitting will be placed near each other to create a quiet zone at night and to simplify babysitting.

We are pleased to offer a discounted rate ($80 off per person) to:

  • KH and SZ Members: Kehilat Hadar voting members and Shaare Zedek members are eligible for a discount and early access to registration. Please indicate if this membership status applies on the registration form.
  • First Timers: If you have never been to the Shavuot Retreat, you are eligible for a discount. Please indicate on the registration form that this is your first time attending. We are very excited to welcome you this year!

Transportation

  • Camp Kinder Ring is approximately 1.5 hours from Manhattan by car.
  • Transportation by bus from the Upper West Side of Manhattan will be available to Camp Kinder Ring each way. Registration for the bus is separate from the retreat registration process and will be announced to participants closer to the retreat. Pricing depends on interest. In previous years, it has been around $40-$50 per person each way. Approximate departure time from the UWS would be 3 PM from Broadway and West 110th Street on Tuesday, June 11; approximate departure time from camp would be 10 PM on Thursday, June 13. Additional information will be sent to participants closer to the retreat. 
  • The nearest Metro North train station is New Hamburg, on the Hudson Line, which is about 20 minutes from camp by car.
